I'd like to share a solution to a problem I had today: the "Heal Selection" filter (from the Resynthesizer plugin) suddenly stopped working.

After trying everything — reinstalling the plugin (both by copying its folder directly into the GIMP plugins directory and by installing it through the terminal via Flatpak) and even completely reinstalling GIMP — I discovered the problem wasn't the plugin, but the selection tool I was using.

"Heal Selection" wasn't working when I used the Free Select Tool (Lasso). However, when I tested it with the Ellipse Select Tool and the Paths Tool, it worked perfectly.

So, here's a tip for anyone facing the same issue: before you reinstall everything, try using a different selection tool first!

By the way, does anyone have a technical explanation for why this might have happened? Why would the filter work with some selection tools but not specifically with the Lasso?

I've seen that it won't work when the feathering option is active. Disable that - and it works.
