Italic2 Whitebase intended for joined-up lower-case with various joining versions of characters.
The height is larger than is usual for me so I would suggest that you scale down the file to suit your own needs before adding effects.
To implement the joins you can use thetwo most recent plug-ins (Gimp 2.10 only) using the 'special joins' item from the 'Use alternative characters' drop-down option.

A version of Italic2 with fancy upper-case characters.
The upper-case characters are not designed to be used on their own.
