Keep in mind though they must be created in Gimp-2.10 versions because the Custom Font SCM script will not work in Gimp-3.2.2.

My normal custom font height is 600 but I often work bigger (1000 ht) and scale down to 600 which, as Rod says, usually provides a reasonable filesize (with applied compression). I tend to keep a path template for my own custom fonts making it easier to scale up/down without impacting on resolution if required.

The Italic2 series has a white face character height of 1000 but I tend to scale this down before applying effects because the larger number of characters significantly affects the speed at which the various 2.10 custom font plug-ins operate (leading to more cups of tea/ walks around the garden/ household chores than is usual).
