BTW, if your characters had white backgrounds you cleaned from them, you can get rid of that little white pixel border by checking out my tutorial; RobA even made a script to do it. Check it out here.

I downloaded your latest Mike so I could have a colored bg behind him, Ana, and he looks really good. No white pixels around him. Excellent job!

Thanks ''O''.But I must add one note....in your tutorial where it says apply ''Alpha to selection'' it didn't work here after i applied this script. So I used fuzzy select tool, then I go to select - invert and then the do the rest.

I used RobA's script and checked, Make Holes Transparent.

Once the background has been removed, you can select inside the black outlines. If you increase the selection by 1, it will take care of any semitransparent pixels, then make new layers for the b&w checks and the colored checks.

Got the original picture here. http://www.coloring-pictures.net/drawin ... zowski.gif Since it is a .gif image, the mode needs to be changed to RGB (Colors > Mode > RGB). I removed all of the white so I had just the black outline.

I've attached an xcf file of Mike I just did and you can check out the selection I made for the checkered part. You can view the layers too. Here are the results.

Hey, something strange happened when I used the chessboard in GMIC, I went to paint the eye in and the whole thang changed. Her hat, cape, broom and shoes turned black and her skirt and face stayed chessboard, go figure!

G'MIC has Filters > G'MIC > Patterns > Chessboard, which makes checkered backgrounds too.

The checks can be sized separately, the colors are controlled within the filter and the angles of the checks can be changed. Just another way to make checkered things. :hehe

Seeing as we are only a couple days away from Easter, I thought it was a good time to do this tutorial of "0's" to make some easter stuff.
