If the 'murkins eventually come to grips with the metric system this time, it will :)

It better, too much money invested for it not to work.

Just re-opening this thread; Curiosity's landing late tomorrow evening I believe. Cross your fingers folks and hopefully everyone agreed to use a single standard of measurement this time and since metric is king (though I think in terms of British units; lol), I hope they use the metric metric. lol

Well, it's actually on the ground now, but, because of the speed of light, we won't know for at least anoher 10 or so minutes at the earliest. Depending on a lot of factors, it may even be an hour before we know if the orbitor satellite misses the window. Yup; still sitting on my hands on the news. lol

Touchdown comfirmed. Amazing. So many things could have gone wrong but at least they nailed the landing. Now hopefully the unit will work too, but it can take weeks to know the whole story. Signal to Odyssy remains strong and they are now getting data from the ground. :)

edit:

Getting the first image of Curiosity's foot (wheel) from being on the ground. Man, I'm happy. :)

So now, if we do something out of curiosity, we will choke due to lack of oxygen on Mars?

Congrats to NASA!

Glad to see the rover made it down safely. Can't want to see more hi-res images and to start getting back some results of the scientific experiments they have planned.

It even got photographed on the way down:

and had a much better landing than one of the Google Spy-Mobiles:
