Bart may be a gem but as you wrote is a gem only for geek that know well what they are doing
CCleaner too may give bad surprises if used automatically
as example it has the bad habit to correct "unknow file extensions" by default and by deleting the entries...problem is that last time i checked (now that may be corrected ) ,8bf (ps plugin extension ) .ai(adobe illustrator ) and .mm and .mmc (mathmap filters )were between the unknow file extension
But is really a good tool and a 10 minuts of patience to read the instrution before the first run should be sufficent to use it without problem
This is true. but truth be known my users would rarely have these apps installed so the worse damage it will do is wipe out history and passwords. Also it really should not affect the program accessing, calling or using these file types. only when double clicking file in question does the file association kick in.
for example, a simple PDF. If I were to disassociate PDF extension from Adobe I could not double click the pdf file and have adobe launch and display the file. But if I open Adobe and then used it's interface to open the PDF file, it would open fine.
Also, you obviously are not a born geek, a real geek would never read instructions until it's already broke!
