9 times out of 10 I get this board message whenever I try to go to the next page of the search results.

I wonder if other users here get the same...

What is the time frame of 9 out of 10 times?
There was GIMP Chat Hosting Server Upgrades in January. I'm not sure if that is totally worked out. I've had a few glitches now and then myself but haven't experienced your issue with search. GnuTux might have more information.

Today was trying to find something and tried a few times for 10 minutes until i got it working. First page displayed but when I try any other page i get this message. But I remember the same problem in the past - last year, this February. Don't know, maybe it's my browser/antimalware software preventing pages from loading? (using Chrome)

It could be a browser thing but, like I said, I've had some glitches recently as well, you might have had one of those. I usually just get a hang or every now again the server error screen pops up until I refresh, the search issue is new to me. Servers are complex beasts, so who knows?

I think it's due to some cap put on resources allocated to GimpChat on the server.

Makes sense ofnuts, i was just wondering if it was just me. I wouldn't bother GnuTux with such a small issue, let him fully recover after the flu or whatever it was :mrgreen:

I have had that happen to me occasionally. Also, I've tried a search right after another one and got told to wait before doing another search. :hoh

It always happens to me too Kite so you are not alone. The first page works but all others bring up that message.

Yeah; usually the first page displays fine, but clicke page two will always end with a bust. Not sure if it's a timing issue or some weird site code conflict.

If ofnuts is right (and I think he is) and this is GC's hostserver limitation, there is nothing we or even GnuTux can do.

I just had a thought, are people selecting the page number or next on the search results pages? It seems others are having this problem as well. I can't recall having this issue I always choose next the first time, not the page number. I'm wondering if that makes a difference?

phpBB as well as some of the forum engines I've seen and used often come with limitations for the built-in search. Personally, I recommand using external search engines parameters and have the url bookmarked, something like this for DDG and this for big G

I've changed the search flood intervals from 30 seconds to the following...

If you are logged into the site, you need to wait 5 seconds between searches.

If you are a guest, you'll need to wait 15 seconds before the next search.

Clicking on Next or a Page Number is considered a "new" search.

Let me know if that works for ya..
