Been craving sugar cookies lately, so I decided to try my hand and making one in GIMP. I just hope they aren't fattening. Haha!

Looks yummy! I think I should have made my cookies in Gimp, none of the ones I baked came out as good as they were supposed to. But we had fun eating the dough, lol.

No dishes and clean-up here, hahaha... Pixels may not be fattening, but they sure don't help resist the urge for the real thing.

Well I reformated my flash drive with a live cd and I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.04, cause of space, and I uninstalled pitivi, and got gimp. So prepare for cookies lol

As for your deer cookie, it doesn't look much like a cookie in my opinion, might be the frosting, or whatever that red stuff is, but then again I'm not much for sweats.

They sure do look like cookies to me and I am assuming they are made as real shortbread with real butter. Yummy. Very nice as usual mahvin......

I love your sugar cookies mahvin. Yes, they look very nicely frosted and decorated. You gave me the desire, so I decided to try a gingerbread boy. My mousing is not steady and symmetrical, but I never decorated one with real frosting that was either.

You're right, Mike. It's a horrid looking bunch of pixels. What was I thinking? On the other hand, it's just that, pixels.

Love your gingerbread man, O. The wife bought some pre-made gingerbread dough. I hope they taste as good as homemade.

Nice re-purpose of the chain-ball brush. Very clever! Now let's see you do the multi-color sprinkles...

Bob: I've actually been thinking about that. I'm thinking Rob A's brush script will work nicely with that, all I need to do is make the multi-colored sprinkles.

Thank you, mahvin. I tried a sugar cookie sprinkled with colored sugar. Not as easily done as it may sound.

I made a cookie fill pattern for the main cookie. Then made a new transparent layer and filled it with red. Set the layer mode of the red layer to Dissolve and lowered the opacity so I had some finely sprinkled red sugar particles. Used Alpha to Selection on the cookie, Inverted, grew the selection by 20 and Feathered 40, selected the red layer again and Deleted. Feathering the red particles made them less dense around the edges.

I created a new transparent layer between the cookie and the red sugar particles, merged the particle layer with the transparent layer and lowered the opacity just a tiny bit. I see I managed to get sugar sprinkled outside the cookie. I should have done alpha to selection on the main cookie, inverted and deleted on the sugar layer.

I think you could use a multicolored pattern the same way for multicolored sprinkled sugar.

I wouldn't worry about it, O, I get sprinkles everywhere when I decorate my cookies.

Edit: And lylejk is right, that is an excellent looking cookie. Now I need to go to the kitchen...

Nice Cookies Everyone!

A first attempt. Imagine a cookie pizza. Then bring in a chicken and dip it's feet in red paint. Allow it to dance on your cookie pizza...

That's what my go at a 3D cookie reminds me of. I'm not so hungry for cookies now. Maybe chicken for dinner.

The cookie itself actually looked pretty good until I had to put toppings on it. I started with a 400x400 image and made a circle, filled it with O's sugar cookie pattern, then used G'MICs 3D elevation with the factor set to 36.5. Very nice textured cookie, almost looks like oatmeal. I think the "hiccup" at the bottom came because my circle fit exactly into my canvas.

I made a Cake Decorations brush attached below. They are 0.50 size on the cookie. Full size is on the left. I used a size 11 circle brush for the round ones.



The Mardi Gras beads at half size would work too. A bit of shine looks good.

That's what I am currently working on right now, O. Making somewhat realistic looking sprinkles. I don't know what's up with me, I used to crank this out in PS like it was nothing, now I stare at the screen like I'm in an artist "block". I used to convert lots for people who used Paint Shop Pro, they were called "tubes". I'm going to look through my old collection. I know I have something somewhere.
