You have to download v 1.5.5.2 and put it in your plug-ins folder. Close and re-open Gimp. Then open G'MIC to refresh it from the Internet. Be sure Internet box is checked before refreshing.

PS: You have to have an image open in Gimp before you can open G'MIC. Any image will do.

I don't know if there is any difference. For Windows you need gmic.exe. In Linux, it is just gmic...either 64 or 32 bit, whichever one you pick for your pc.

"from a shell" is just *nix speak for "at the command prompt" (Windows' standard terminal program is "cmd.exe")

gmic_gimp_1.5.5.2_win32.zip contains only the plugin
gmic_gimp.exe is the plugin program itself (for GIMP 32bit)
but you should copy the other files and the _gmic folder too because
".dll" is a library that is needed and "_gmic" folder has files to let you update plugin-scripts from the internet

Each time you load G'MIC be sure to refresh for filter updates.
